Varnishing Artwork
Picture varnishing presents many challenges. Whether you are using Gamvar picture varnish or polyurethane, understanding the consistency is vital for quick drying and least amount of dust that can stick to the painting. I've found with Gamvar, on a small painting, you need perhaps only a tiny droplet and spread it out. Maybe add a few coats, but it's essential to understand the strange oily nature of Gamvar and how it can be brushed even more thin than you think.
